These days Peter Hook is being less of himself and more like Tony Wilson. He owns a nightclub and now he owns a new record label. As 24 Hour Service Station reports, Hook now owns and manages Hacienda Records UK, which actually operates in the old Factory Records building, where he recently opened FAC 251 The Factory. How about that for a nostalgia kick?
So far the label has only produced two acts, both featuring Hook, though there are plans to showcase future developing artists. If you’re interested in what’s being produced, head on over to the official site. We’ve discussed Freebass before — the supergroup featuring Hook, Andy Rourke (The Smiths), and Gary “Mani” Mounfield (The Stone Roses / Primal Scream) — but there’s also a group called Man Ray and a New Order tribute for sale, too.
In sum: It’s an exciting time to be in Manchester.
