Thomas Dolby‘s most recent release, 1992’s Astronauts and Heretics, found him working with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia, et al. The album produced a middling effort from a guy who really was trying to shake the one hit wonder curse. With regards to time and wounds, Dolby is now working on a three-part concept album featuring the likes of Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler, Imogen Heap, and Regina Spektor entitled A Map of the Floating City (via Paste). AMotFC ‘s three parts are further and loosely defined by geography: Amerikana, Oceanea, and Urbanoia.
Dolby tells Billboard.com that the album is “halfway done” and will hopefully get a an official”by the end of the year,” though he has not announced a specific label as of yet. Dolby plans to support the release with a tour in 2011.
