Watch: The National – “Bloodbuzz Ohio”

on May 11, 2010, 3:10pm

I think it’s safe to say no other band exudes coolness like The National (or hipness or chillness, depending on your current vocabulary). Case in point the band’s newly unveiled video for “Bloodbuzz Ohio”, the first single off its recently released, possible Album of the Year, High Violet. After all, it’s nothing really more than frontman Matt Berninger walking/dancing/gazing around for a good four and a half minutes. Yet for some reason, maybe because of the suit, maybe because of the stellar backing music, Mr. Berninger comes out looking like the coolest kid in class… er, um, Brooklyn? Plus, the band uses the video to show off a notable friend — D.A. Pennebaker, the famed director who will be overseeing the webcast of this Saturday’s performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. (He’s the guy who plays the bartender). A cool friend with benefits.

Check it out for yourself below. Then, take another listen to High Violet because a.) it came out today and b.) as mentioned, it’s pretty damn good. And that’s with our objectivity hat on.
