DOOM shares Sacha Baron Cohen-featuring EP, live album

on June 07, 2010, 4:54pm

I’m not sure which one sounds more implausible, but both are in fact real. I’m of course talking about the two newest release from hip-hop’s most controversial Icon of Rock, DOOM.

First, the one that’s available right this very second. As Prefix points out, a five-song EP billed as MF Borat is now available for free download on 2dopeboyz and yes, it’s exactly what you think it is. Apparently, as 2dopeboyz notes, DOOM met up with Sacha Baron Cohen during the filming of Borat and the two decided to collaborate together on an EP. Unfortunately, aside from a few vocal samples, we don’t actually hear “Borat” on the record, but he reportedly supplied the beats you hear DOOM rapping over. Leery downloaders can preview one of the EP tracks, “Rescue Khazakstan”, below.

If that weren’t enough, DOOM will soon drop his first ever live record. I know, I know, you’re probably asking how the rapper has a live record when he doesn’t even show up to his own scheduled performances. Well, your question will be answered come when Gold Dust drops Expektoration on September 14th. According to Pitchfork, the album was taped at a recent NYC gig and consists of two parts: the first act concentrates on tracks from Madvillain’s Madvillainy and DOOM’s 2004 solo album Mm..Food? while the second focuses on DOOM’s 1999 solo debut Operation: Doomsday. Fortunately for this one, you won’t have to leave the comfort of your home to potentially be let down.
