Some festivals — cough cough Coachella cough cough — don’t drop their schedule until a week before festival goers are set to don their grounds. Others — like Austin City Limits — do so nearly three months ahead of time, as exemplified today.
Starting right now, attendees of ACL ’10 can begin plotting who and when they’ll see when they take to Zilker Park between October 8th and 10th. So what do we have?
Friday sees the festival’s two main stages split between indies and jam bands, with The Black Keys, Spoon, and The Strokes scheduled to perform on the AMD Stage (in that other), while Slightly Stoopid will open for Phish on the Budweiser stage. You’ll also notice a few head scratchers, like Vampire Weekend playing right before Phish and at the same time as Sonic Youth. Ouch.
The Budweiser Stage appears to take the cake on Saturday, as Gaslight Anthem, Silversun Pickups, LCD Soundsystem, and Muse are all set to perform on the stage. M.I.A., Gogol Bordello, and Pat Green will hold down the AMD Stage. As for the festival’s most brilliant decision of the day? Giving Monsters of Folk a two hour set.
The Eagles will close out ACL ’10 on Sunday, but the opposite side of the park will offer the bigger highlights. The National, Flaming Lips, Yeasayer, Devendra Banhart, Foals, and The Morning Benders are among the acts scheduled to play at the AMD and Lady Bird Lake stages.
