As part of Converse’s Three Artists, One Song series, rapper Kid Cudi, Vampire Weekend guitarist-producer Rostam Batmanglij, and lo-fi rockers Best Coast came together to record, well, one song. This isn’t the first time the iconic shoe company has done this. If you recall, two years ago Pharrell Williams, Santigold, and Julian Casablancas were pulled together to write the tune, “My Drive Thru”. Naturally, it makes sense that this year would sport some of the hottest young acts around.
Titled “All Summer”, the song begins a bit awkwardly with Kid Cudi rap-whispering over what would otherwise be a brilliant Best Coast tune. However, by the time the drums kick up in the mid-section – and especially when Bethany Cosentino’s vocals bleed through at the chorus – the song is the perfect anthem for any teenager who’s ever jumped on the bed while refusing to do chores around the house.
You can stream the song over at Spin, and also watch the collaboration on video below (via Spin TV). But if you really like it, you can download it over at Converse’s website at 2 p.m. ET today. Update: Or just click here.
