Metallica’s Ulrich says Big Four could play US dates by 2011

on July 21, 2010, 5:35pm

When the four classic elements of thrash metal (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax) combined at Sonisphere, they created the super storm of face-melting awesomeness that came to be known as the Big Four. And if you thought your only chance to see the aforementioned natural disaster was to be there (or get the DVD), then the gods smile upon you today as, according to Classic Rock magazine (via Antimusic.com), Metallica drummer and spokesman Lars Ulrich said they’d all like to do this all again stateside real soon.

Of course, it might not be that soon. Metallica themselves have been touring since 2008 and are in need of a little rest and relaxation. But once the band’s all rested up, Ulrich did say that he “would champion trying to do this (the Big Four tour) in 2011 or 2012, obviously in England and the United States . It’s just a matter of logistics. I don’t think there’s anybody involved who considers there’s a sell-by date on this.” Awesome to know good metal isn’t like a carton of milk.

As always, stay tuned for more Big Four news as it’s announced.
