Crystal Stilts announce new single ahead of new album

on September 07, 2010, 9:05am

Brooklyn’s Crystal Stilts have been relatively quiet since the 2008 release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Alight of Night, releasing just two singles, “Departure” and “Love is a Wave” since then. Actually, make that three.

The noise-pop five-piece of Brad Hargett, JB Townsend, Kyle Forester, Andy Adler, and Keegan Cooke have announced details of a new single due for release on October 26th via Slumberland Records. The 7-inch single will feature “Shake the Shackles” on the A-side and “Magnetic Moon” on the B-side. The press surrounding the new single describes the A-side as “impossible to place anywhere but firmly in Crystal Stilts’ own unique style,” while the flipside is “a bluesy chug that comes on like some lost swamp-pop classic” (via Prefixmag).

Even better, Crystal Stilts also revealed they’re gearing up for a brand new full-length, which is slated for an “early 2011″ release. No further details are available at this time, but the band did note that the aforementioned single and will not be featured on the next album. Instead, the two new songs are said to be “a great snapshot of where the band is now and a taster for its forthcoming album.”

Ahead of their October 28th release, you can stream both “Shake the Shackles” and “Magnetic Moon” here.
