Update: You can now enjoy the film in three parts below.
Last New Year’s Eve in Chicago, Gregg Gillis — more commonly known as Girl Talk — put on a show no one was likely to forget. But just in case, he documented the whole thing on video. Filmed in HD from multiple angles, the mash-up DJ’s NYE party will soon be available as a short film.
The performance, at the Congress Theatre, was marked by a surprise prop, an original and likely very expensive one. Girl Talk came out with a two-story, five-room house — flushable toilets and everything. According to a press release, the house was in the works for months beforehand and took four days and 21 workers to build. Details of the house include an actual staircase, floors, a kitchen with a table, a living room (furniture and fireplace included), a bathroom, and bedrooms. The “yard” included fake trees and a rock covering Girl Talk’s equipment. Plus, no dance party is complete without tons of excessive lights. Get a preview of the house in the teaser video below, along with other footage from the film, which arrives September 21st.
In other Girl Talk news, Gillis has spent this summer working on the followup to 2008’s Feed the Animals, and it is slated to drop early next year. We will, naturally, update you with that info.
