Ted Leo has always had it tougher than most musicians. The hardcore and punk scene isn’t really suited for his singing style and melodies, so he is forced to play on indie bills where his punk roots are less than appreciated. The struggle could be seen when Leo considered quitting all together, noting that something had to change because of the financial difficulty of being a touring musician.
Well, a big change actually could increase his punk cred, as Ted Leo has reunited with his hardcore band Citizens Arrest, who disbanded in 1991. The reunited group will feature Leo on guitar, though it appears that he will turn over lead vocalist duty to Daryl Kahan, who previously shared the job with Leo. Only dates for New York and Philadelphia has been announced so far, but they are recording new material for a future release and have a limited edition seven-inch for ”The Manifestation” coming soon (via BrooklynVegan).
And if the punks still don’t embrace Leo, someone needs to show them his Danzig impersonation, which is spot-on.
