CoS/WNC Magazine Presents: The Official MoogFest Kickoff Party w/ King Britt

on October 13, 2010, 6:00pm

Judging from the response towards our recent MoogFest contest, it’s clear that several of you readers plan on hitting up Asheville, NC come Halloween weekend. We don’t blame you. It’s going to be one hell of a party, filled with hippies, good Southern cooking, and lots of Cee-Lo Green Mark Mothersbaugh. Somewhere in the middle there will be some synthesizer-driven music that we’re pretty psyched about, too. Apparently?

Anyhow…

As media partners of the festival – an accolade we won’t keep secret, obviously – we’re teaming up with the lovely (and local) WNC Magazine to cook up a sizzling hot shindig, all before one single Moog-involved event goes down. We’re billing it as The Official MoogFest Kickoff Party, we’re throwing it at The Southern, and we’ve scheduled King Britt to perform a DJ set. We’ll let all that sink in for a minute.

Yes, on Thursday, October 28th, Consequence of Sound and WNC Magazine want to get you buzzed – literally and metaphorically – for what will undoubtedly be one of the most talked-about music festival weekends of the year. So, here’s the good news. The whole event will be absolutely free…that is, if you’re a festival pass-holder. For everyone else, you’ll need to throw down $10 dollars at the door.

If the name King Britt rings a bell, there’s a good reason for that. For one, he’s scheduled to perform at MoogFest on Friday night, where he’ll be performing alongside multimedia artist Rucyl, under the project name: Saturn Never Sleeps. But secondly, this Philadelphia-born DJ has been around the block – in a good way. He’s toured with Digable Planets (as “Silkworm”), his music’s been included on the likes of True Blood and Michael Mann’s underrated 2006 update of Miami Vice, and he founded Ovum Recordings. If that weren’t enough, he’s a huge collector of vintage synthesizers. Dare we say that he’s quite fitting for the weekend, huh?

Remember, however, that this event is only free to weekend pass-holders. You’ll need your wristband to gain access; otherwise, we’ll need to see some Hamiltons. Okay?

Here’s the rundown:

Consequence of Sound & WNC Magazine present:
The Official Moogfest Kickoff Party, featuring King Britt (DJ Set)

When: Thursday, October 28th from 7 p.m. (doors) to 11 p.m.
Where: The Southern, 41 North Lexington Avenue Asheville, NC

Let us know if you plan on coming! Who knows? Maybe we’ll throw a few of your names on the VIP list!
