Jason Collett drops reworked compilation, Pony Tricks

on October 10, 2010, 11:30am

Indie rock darling Jason Collett first made his name in the Canadian music scene as a member of the multi-membered experimental outfit Broken Social Scene. Having taken a break from touring with BSS to focus on family and his own music, Collett has been putting out albums on his own terms. This latest release is no exception.

The singer/songwriter’s new record, Pony Tricks, is a stripped-down acoustic recording that breathes new life into chosen cuts from his back catalogue. Nine songs have been reworked for the effort, while two previously unreleased tracks — — “Pulling The Sun Down” and “My Daddy Was A Rock ‘n Roller” — are also included. According to Collett, the release is to serve as a more accurate representation of his live shows.

“Fans often ask me if I have recordings that are representative of my solo shows,” Collett explains of the inspiration for Pony Tricks in an issued statement. “This release simply aims to satisfy that demand.”

In support of Pony Tricks‘s October 12th release, Collett will embark on the aptly titled “Undressed Tour.” The 25-date journey across Canada, with support by fellow Canucks Daniel Romano and Al Tuck, will begin in Petersborough, ON on October 14th. A pit stop in Collett’s hometown of Toronto, ON is scheduled for November 11th, before the tour comes to a close in Priceville, ON on December 4th. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
