With the 2010 festival season essentially over and done with, eyes, ears, and bloggers have begun turning to next year’s offerings. Though South by Southwest has already whetted appetites by offering up their initial lineup, another big music industry showcase has revealed their first bit of 2011 news: CMJ 2011 Music Marathon has been given the dates of Tuesday, October 18th through Saturday the 22nd. (Extra points for anyone astute enough to notice the updated Festival Outlook page before reading this article!)
Barely a month in the history books, CMJ 2010 featured over 1,300 artists and bands performing in over 75 of New York Citys finest clubs and venues. In addition to the music, 2010 marked the 17th edition of the CMJ Film Festival as well as the first CMJ International Film Festival. Expect all of these to reappear for the 31st year of the festival, plus the usual panels, exhibitions, seminars, and other events, as the annual 12,000-plus music business professionals and more than 120,000 music fans converge on NYC to create the week-long musical cluster-cuss that is CMJ Music Marathon.
Those musical acts wishing to get their name on the massive roster can begin submitting applications on Thursday, November 18th. Head on over to Sonicbids to register, and keep in mind early submission ends November 30th, while regular submissions stretch until July 6th. For more information, check out CMJ’s soon-to-be-updated website. As for CoS, just like this year, well see ya in the City!
