paul westerberg mr f Paul Westerberg returns with new 7 single

At this point it pretty much goes without saying, but, yeah, Paul Westerberg is a mysterious dude. For the most part, the legendary Replacements frontman has pulled a Jeff Mangum and remained a recluse since he severely injured his thumb in 2006. Yet every so often we hear news about a new EP or record deal. At one point, he could even be found playing on top of a baseball dugout.

And now, without a moment’s notice or publicity, Westerberg has released three brand new songs. As TwentyFourBit discovered, the songs “This Machine” and “Foolish Hand Shake, which Westerbeg recorded under he moniker Mr. F, are now available for purchase on a limited-edition, multicolored 7-inch vinyl via Nimbit Music. The release also includes a digitial download code for a third song, titled “Grandpaboy’s Last Stand”.

What’s more, if you put much stock in the words appearing on the single’s cover art, then this release could be the first part of a bigger forthcoming effort called Son of a Depression. Or it could be absolutely nothing. Remember, this guy makes Radiohead look predictable.
