Well, let’s just say we didn’t see this one coming. All six original members of the iconic UK outfit Pulp — Jarvis Cocker, Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve MacKey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber — have decided “to get together and play some concerts next summer,” reports an issued press release (via The Guardian). So far, two festival are included in those plans — the indie-tastic Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and the Wireless Festival in London.

Established in 1978, Pulp would ultimately prove to be one of the United Kingdom’s more popular and influential alternative bands. Their resume includes seven full length albums, chart-topping hits like 1995’s “Common People”, and receiving the Mercury Music Prize (UK’s Best Album) in 1994 for His ‘n’ Hers. Their unique disco influenced pop-rock style is also credited as one of the main originators for the Britpop sub genre.

Pulp will perform at Primavera on May 27th and at the Wireless Festival on July 3rd. Tickets for the former are now on sale, while tickets for the latter will be available Friday, November 12th via wirelessfestival.co.uk. Additional performances are said to be forthcoming, so, yeah, stay tuned.

Pulp 2011 Tour Dates:
05/27 – Barcelona, ES @ Primavera Sound
07/03 – London, UK @ Wireless Festival
