Wolf Parade announces indefinite hiatus

on November 28, 2010, 12:31am

Wolf Parade‘s latest album, Expo 86, is less than six months old and a brand new single was offered just last month. Yet the acclaimed Canadian outfit has no plans to continue, at least for the foreseeable future. According to attendees of the band’s concert in Toronto last night, Wolf Parade cast doubt on their future shortly before the final song of their set. Singer/keyboardist Spencer Krug reportedly told the audience that “this is the last show we’ll play for a long time,” with singer/guitarist Dan Boeckner then noting, “this is the last song we’re ever gonna play.” While the news isn’t as bleak as Boeckner makes it sound, he did later confirm to the band’s unofficial fan site that Wolf Parade is indeed embarking on an “indefinite hiatus.”

There’s no word on what the members of Wolf Parade plan to do with their free time, but given the massive number of side-projects that have spawned off the Canadian outfit, one would think we’ll be hearing some Sunset Rubdown, Frog Eyes, and/or Handsome Furs news soon. In the meantime, check out the below footage of the band performing the Expo 86 track “Ghost Pressure” in Toronto.
