Last week marked the return of Late Night TV as we know it. It was a tour-de-force with stellar performances by a host of artists, most notably: No Age shredding down on Letterman, Iron & Wine debuting a new song and playing an old favorite on Fallon, and (while not technically on a late night talk show) The Black Keys utterly destroying SNL. A wonderful start to 2011.
This week, we’re reminded at what a hodgepodge of artists late night can be. We’re hitting basically every vein of music this week from (one of) The Allman Brothers to 30 Seconds to Mars. Sometimes this type of variety can be a blessing and a curse. This week, I’d say it’s a little of both. As much as I’m genuinely stoked to see The Black Keys do their thing again, I’m equally un-stoked to see Neon Trees take their one hit single to yet another late night talk show. But, the glass is half full. We’re in store for performances from Okkervil River, Tom Tom Club (when was the last time you thought of Tom Tom Club?), Cake, Cage the Elephant, and The Wombats, who are fixing to have a big 2011. Variety = Interesting week.
Heres your Late Night Lobotomy.
Better luck next week!
