Deluxe edition DVDs are nice and all, but they don’t really compensate for the fact that metal’s big four chose to play their first-ever shows together in Europe. That said, when talking about a tour featuring Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, we’ll of course take sloppy seconds. After spending 2010 in Europe, the Big Four will come together once again, this time for a massive one-off at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California (aka the site of the Coachella Music Festival).
MyDesert.com reports that the concert still needs to be approved Indio City Council, but promoters GoldenVoice intend to hold the event on the April 23rd — the Saturday between their other two major events, Coachella and the Stagecoach Music Festival. The current proposal has the concert running from 4 to 11 p.m. and tickets will cost $99.00. A general on-sale has been set for Friday, 10 a.m. PST Friday through Ticketmaster.
We’ll update you when everything’s officially official. In the meantime, here’s a reason to go:
P.S. I recommend investing in an extended stay hotel room in Indio.
