Thirteen years after he was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, The Notorious B.I.G.’s death remains unsolved. But according to CNN, the long-dormant investigation into the legendary rapper’s murder was recently “reinvigorated… as a result of new information.”
Details remain limited, but CNN reports that the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. County District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI are all involved in the investigation. Police maintain that a lone gunman in a Chevy Impala pulled alongside the rapper’s Suburban on the night of March 9, 1997 and opened fire. The shooter remains unknown, but the main theory regarding the identities and motives of the murderers remains in the form of a retaliation hit ordered by rapper Suge Night and Death Row Records over the death of Tupac Shakur six months earlier. Suge Night has long denied any involvement.
This is one case we’ll be following closely.
