In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Danish band Efterklang‘s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the coast of Denmark. The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.
Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their 2010 album, Magic Chairs. It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated playmates.
Efterklang will be bring An Island with them on their European tour February 21st to March 18th 2011.
However YOU can bring An Island to where you live… for free! Efterklang & Vincent Moon’s listeners and followers are invited to host their own “Private-Public Screenings” of the film. The only conditions are that the screenings be public, free, have at least 5 attendees, and be verified on the An Island site. Head to www.anisland.cc to sign up or find a screening to attend. The screenings will start February 1st and run until March 31st.
“The Private-Public Screenings are our attempt at creating a free and inspiring distribution method for our film. It is also our attempt to give something back to our many supporters around the world. We have financed this film ourselves and we hope that we can recoup some of that money through donations. However, the memory of the 4 days we spent on the island of Als in August 2010 and our joy and pride of the finished film is a huge reward in itself.” – Vincent Moon & Efterklang
