The Hangout Music Festival experienced its share of hurdles during its inaugural year; an oil spilled ravaged the festival’s Gulf Shore setting, while The Flaming Lips canceled at the last minute. But with the bad also came some good, and Hangout not only proved itself a formidable force in the country’s ever-growing summer festival circuit, but in the process, it also raised some money for charity. Now, in its second year, Hangout will look to build on those successes with a lineup featuring some of music’s most elite.
Foo Fighters, Paul Simon, and Widespread Panic head this year’s festival, set to take place from May 20-22 on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Other notables include The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Flaming Lips, Cee Lo Green, Primus, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Girl Talk, Ween, and Matisyahu.
Rounding out the bill are the likes of Umphreys McGee, Slightly Stoopid, Drive-By Truckers, Amos Lee, Old Crow Medicine Show, G. Love & Special Sauce, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Keller Williams, Galactic, Xavier Rudd, Minus the Bear, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Portugal. the Man, Beats Antique, Dead Confederate, Jonathan Tyler & Northern Lights, Easy Star All-Stars, Mariachi El Bronx, Truth & Salvage Co, Kristy Lee, Civil Twilight, Rich Aucoin, A Thousand Horses, Jon Black, Cas Haley, and Roman Street.
Along with the talent, this year’s Hangout is adding a fifth music stage under an air-conditioned tent and creating Hammock Beach, a replenishing salt-water lagoon where music fans will find shade, hammocks, and art installations. Another feature of Hammock Beach will be the Sky-bar tower, a structure built specifically for Hangout offering 360-degree views of the festival. Other new attractions include an extended kids area, family events, late night deejays, and shuttle services between stages, according to an issued release.
A limited quantity of festival tickets will be available for $159 and will go on-sale Wednesday, February 2nd at 9 am CST via Front Gate Tickets. Once tickets at the $159 price level are sold-out, tickets will then go on-sale for $174. VIP ticket packages and travel packages start at $525
