Fresh-faced musical hippies Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes will join forces next month with another band who enjoys shopping at vintage clothing stores: Mumford & Sons. The two folk acts, along with Old Crow Medicine Show, are teaming up for the first-ever Railroad Revival Tour, a six-date trek which features concerts at six unique outdoor locations beginning April 21st in Oakland, California.

As the title indicates, the three outfits will travel to each stop via 15 vintage railcars from the 1950s and 60s, pulled by two locomotives. According to an issued press release, “the bands will eat, sleep, and record on the train as they travel across the American Southwest, bringing their collaborative vision to fans from California to New Orleans. The bands will have equal billing and equal time on stage, in an environment that encourages creativity and cross-pollination.” The press release also notes that the entire tour will be the focus of a documentary.

Along with Oakland, the trek includes stops in San Pedro, CA, Chandler, AZ, Marfa, TX, and Austin, TX before concluding April 27th in New Orleans, LA. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 9th at 9 am PST and are available exclusively through railroadrevivaltour.com. Each ticket will include an MP3 download of live recordings from the tour as well as a commemorative ticket custom-designed for each site, with no additional service fees.
