San Francisco rapper K.Flay brings the emo rap thing back on her newest track. Who knows what kind of luck she will have making that stick, but the chick can definitely flow. “Less Than Zero” is a sing-songy number from her upcoming mixtape I Stopped Caring in ’96 (that would be when she was 10 years old or so — drama!).
The track samples “Crystalised” by the xx; the intro to “Crystalised” is looped throughout, while the chorus features some indie-friendly synth backing. An mp3 is available for download below.
The mixtape comes out in three bundles, each of which is made up of three songs. For each bundle, one song will get the music video treatment. And surprise, surprise, we have one of those over at Cluster 1. “Less Than Zero” keeps it simple, with shots of K.Flay performing, as well as some choice location shots of the Bay Bridge and Haight Street’s Milk Bar.
The first mixtape bundle arrives tomorrow, April 1st. The second follows on April 15th, and the final one drops April 28th 29th.
