DJ Z-Trip drops massive remix of Beastie Boys catalogue

on May 03, 2011, 9:05am

Used to be a time where you’d listen to a Beastie Boys album to try to pick out the remixed samples. Now look at us — we’re listening to a remix of Beastie Boys trying to pick out what song that MCA line is from. DJ Z-Trip offers up a good primer for those who want a chill retrospective into the trio’s career. Posted on Z-Trip’s Bandcamp page and available below is a download for the 23:30 minute mix that moves rather chronologically through the Brooklyn rap trio’s catalogue, from the debut album License To Ill to their latest Hot Sauce Committee Part Two

“I was stoked and humbled when asked to do this mix,” says Z-Trip on his Bandcamp page. “I’ve been a fan of The Beasties since I first heard Mr. Magic interview them on WBLS in NY. I included some of my favorites as well as stuff off the new album. All remixed. “

And really, if nothing else, Z-Trip gets it right: “It’s gotta funky beat, and you can bug out to it.”
