Conan O’Brien has done a lot with his new gig on TBS. From nabbing the elusive Jack White like they were best buddies to being the place where Soundgarden made their return to late night after 13 years, O’Brien knows a thing or two about making the most out of a musical guest’s appearance. Of course, all that may have been nothing compared to his latest achievement: Brooklyn rockers Yeasayer stopping by to debut a new song called “Devil and the Deed” (via The Audio Perv). Now that is influence.
The song, which is available above for your viewing pleasure above, is a bizarre cut comprised of pained vocals, junk noise, awesome rhythms, and one very important ingredient: a healthy dose of straight rockin’ funk. If this is what the boys have set for their upcoming new album, then consider us prematurely sold.
Now, Coco, if you’d be so kind: get working on that Led Zeppelin reunion. We know you can work miracles, yo!
