Alkaline Trio details Damnesia

on June 01, 2011, 3:05pm

There are many ways to celebrate a musical anniversary: there’s reissues, tours, and even throwing your own festival. To celebrate 15 years together, Alkaline Trio is hitting the road, as well as putting out a greatest hits album, titled Damnesia, featuring all new tracks.

No, that’s not a contradiction. The Illinoisan pop-punk band has put together a collection à la The Cure’s Greatest Hits/Acoustic Hits, selecting 12 fan-favorite tracks in addition to creating brand new recordings. Instead of going purely acoustic, however, “the band shows their musical prowess and takes wider arrangements and broader instrumentation” to re-envision the songs. The tracklist has been long-speculated, and was recently revealed on Epitaph Record’s website.

Also included on the compilation is a cover of the Violent Femmes’ “I Held Her in My Arms” and two completely fresh tracks, “Olde English 800” and “I Remember a Rooftop.” See which songs made the cut on the full tracklisting below.

Damnesia drops July 12th, and is currently available for pre-order through Epitaph. In addition to LP and CD versions, there’s a “Beer-Brown” colored dual LP and bundles which include a beer koozie and Zippo-style lighter. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
