Manu Chao announces U.S. tour dates

on June 14, 2011, 11:50am

Manu Chao may remain an unfamiliar name in the U.S., but the Paris-born, Barcelona-based artist/performer/political activist puts on one of the best live shows you’ll ever see. Don’t believe us? Then check him out this summer when he brings his “La Ventura” tour on a nine-date U.S. swing.

Beginning August 31st in Boston, MA, Chao’s U.S. leg takes him along the East coast and down to Miami, FL, though not before he treats New York City to a two-night residency. He’ll then zig-zag from Atlanta, GA to Chicago, IL to Austin, TX, where he’ll headline Austin City Limits on September 18th, wrapping up his timely jaunt. Pretty sweet way to end a tour.

Before heading our way, however, Manu Chao will kick off his summer in Creil, France on June 26th, making his way across Europe and eventually to Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. On paper, he gives Anthony Bourdain a run for his passport.

And for those who’d liked a taste of what to expect, check out this video of Chao performing in 2009:
