Don’t tell New Wave pioneer Nick Lowe that 13 is unlucky. The 61-year old Brit is set to release his 13th album, The Old Magic, on September 13th via Yep Rock Records.
Throughout his illustrious career, Lowe has worked with his share of musicians, including The Damned, The Pretenders, and Elvis Costello, who he wrote “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding” for. This time, though, he teamed up with Paul Carrack (Roxy Music) and Ron Sexsmith (The Uncool), in addition to his band of Geraint Watkins (keyboards), Steve Donnelly (guitar), and Robert Treherne (drums).
Recorded in London and produced by Lowe, Neil Brockbank, and Treherne, the album will feature covers of Elvis Costello, Tom T. Hall, and Jeff West in between eight original tracks. Below, you can watch Lowe performing a new cut during a recent appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk.
