When Paul McCartney and New York City get together, awesomness usually ensues. The last time, he made Saturday Night Live watchable. And before that, he played three sold-out nights at the late Shea Stadium, which resulted in an epic live album and DVD. Plus, there was that whole 1965 thing. Now, the former Beatle is setting his sights on one of the city’s most historic iconic locations, Yankee Stadium, where he’ll perform for the first time ever on July 15th. Update: A second night has been added for July 16th. Tickets are now on sale.
Tickets for the show, which will likely be a three-plus hour affair featuring cuts from The Beatles, Wings, his own solo material, and The Fireman album Electric Arguments, will go on sale Monday, June 13th at 11:00 AM EDT.
According to an issued press release, the gig will serve as the kick-off to his new “On The Run Tour,” though no other dates have been announced.
