The Jayhawks return with Mockingbird Time

on June 10, 2011, 9:53am

Alt-country godfathers The Jayhawks are set to return with their original line-up — which includes founding members Gary Louis and Mark Olson — for their first album in more than 15 years. Titled Mockingbird Time, the 12-track effort will arrive September 20th via Rounder Records.

Athough Louis and Olson have spent the better part of the last decade and a half on solo projects, the two singer-songwriters have been touring together since 2009. Since then, they’ve also reissued two of their earlier albums, 1992’s Hollywood Town Hall and 1995’s Tomorrow the Green Grass, in addition to a full anthology titled, Music From The North Country. Their latest efforts, however, will likely be a departure from their previous work, as the returning members claim to have expanded palates since venturing on their own. For proof of their newfound sound and a preview of the new LP, check out the band’s profile over at Rolling Stone.

In support of the release, The Jayhawks will spend much of the summer touring the U.S. and Europe. Find all confirmed tour dates below the album’s tracklist.
