Video: Chilly Gonzales – “Party In My Mind” (CoS Premiere)

on June 27, 2011, 2:30pm

Even working in an industry full of quirky characters, Chilly Gonzales is a bit of an oddity — what other former emcees perform 28-hour solo piano shows? Gonzales has once again challenged music’s status quo by combining his talents in rap and classical piano for the first full orchestral rap album, The Unspeakeable Chilly Gonzales. Instead of electronic beats, Gonzales combined his peculiar verses (“But I’m on strike tonight/Gonna Skype with Feist tonight”) with full-orchestral compositions written by his accomplished brother Christophe Beck.

After debuting the album with a video medley, Gonzales has brought back his rapping bust for the new “Party In My Mind” music video. Directed by Jonathan Barre, the video features Gonzales banging away on a pair of congas, karate, and some hilarious rhymes. While the album may be Unspeakable, this is definitely a video you’ll be sharing with friends and co-workers. Check it out for yourself above.

Along with the clip, Gonzales is also in the headlines for his featured piano solo on Drake’s newly leaked single “Marvin’s Room”.
