For the most part, it seems like each new track from Ryan Adams are released fairly random and without rhyme or reason. This latest offering from the legendary singer-songwriter, however, debuts for a good cause.
Adams’ “Shine Through the Dark”, which has never been released and only played live a handful of times, will be a part of the upcoming homeless youth benefit CD Live From Nowhere Near You: Vol. II. Like other recent samples from the compilation, the sparse, folksy number is breathtaking in its simplicity, the “first track I wrote after my retirement‘, according to Adams, as he lay recovering from the flu. Maybe more artists should get the sniffles everyone now and again.
