Gringo Star announces sophomore album: Count Yer Lucky Stars

on July 01, 2011, 12:04pm

Garage rockers and Gigantic Music‘s newest signees Gringo Star have had three years to construct a followup to All Y’all, a debut not easy to follow up. The result the band has come up with is Count Yer Lucky Stars, due out September 27th.

The record continues Gringo Star’s penchant for catchy, guitar-driven pop, unsurprising when considering the LP is produced by Ben Allen, whose previous credits include Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, and Deerhunter. You can get a taste of it by scrolling below and listening to the first single, “Shadow”. In case this isn’t obvious from the southern drawl apparent in both album titles, Gringo Star is from the South — Atlanta, to be exact — but “Shadow” would not feel out of place on a San Diego beach, bro.

Gringo Star, consisting of Furgiuele brothers Nicholas and Peter, Pete DeLorenzo, and Chris Kaufmann, takes as much pride in its live show as anything else, so stay tuned for the U.S. tour dates that will be accompanying the album at some point.
