For at least one day in the not too distant future, Jack White is returning to lead guitar. The Raconteurs, one of White’s two remaining bands, have just announced their first live performance in two years. The band, which features White alongside frontman Brendan Benson, bassist Jack Lawrence, and drummer Patrick Keeler, are confirmed to headline the inaugural MI Fest in their native Michigan.
Set to take place on September 17th at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, the festival will also feature Sheryl Crowe, as well as a slew of other Michigan-based artists, including Mitch Ryder, former Grand Funk Railroad frontman Mark Farner, The Romantics, the Rockets, Alto Reed from Bob Seger’s Silver Bullet Band and Ty Stone & the Truth.
There’s no word on whether The Raconteurs plan to play other dates in 2011, or if the band is ready to finally follow up their masterful 2008 record, Consolers of the Lonely. Here’s why we care though:
