johnnyramone Johnny Ramone autobiography set for April release

Although he’s no longer with us, Johnny Ramone will publish his autobiography this April, as the Associated Press reports. If that’s not punk rock, what else is? Titled Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone, the punk rock auteur’s memoirs will cover the majority of his life; more specifically, his rise as a New York punk in The Ramones, his relationship with Linda Ramone, and his tragic health battles. He died of prostate cancer in 2004.

“It is a really powerful book because his whole life has gone before him and he knows it’s going to come to an end, and he really needs to tell everybody what he’s feeling inside, so that’s what makes it so amazing,” Linda Ramone explained to the Associated Press. “Johnny’s legacy to him was so important, even while he was sick. It was like he knew he was dying, and he wanted to do something.”

The 176-page book will include an introduction written by surviving member Tommy Ramone, an epilogue penned by longtime friend Lisa Marie Presley, and several of Linda’s personal photographs. Linda told the Associated Press she hopes to release another book, focusing solely on photos, with hopes that it will stir interest for a Ramones biopic.

No release date is currently available, but keep your eyes out.
