Tony Iommi diagnosed with lymphoma

on January 09, 2012, 9:42am

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, according to an issued press release. The 63-year-old Birmingham, UK native is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan. However, he will continue to take part in Black Sabbath’s 2012 reunion plans, including the recording of a new studio album and upcoming world tour. As a result, the rest of Black Sabbath will join Iommi in London as they continue to write and record the as-yet-untitled LP.

Below, you can find a list of the band’s confirmed tour dates, as well as a video of Iommi performing a guitar solo in 1978.
