Since reuniting last week for their first on-stage performance in three years, Blur have confirmed slots at London’s Olympic Closing Ceremonies and Sweden’s Way Out West festival. As Gorillaz-Unofficial points out, the outfit may also use 2012 to reissue their back catalog.
Speaking recently with Louder Than War, the band’s longtime producer Stephen Street revealed that he’s currently remastering all of their back catalog. He added, ”Its just great to listen to the tapes and think that now they sound so much better. They sound fuller, and wider, and Im really pleased to be focusing on it. Im really chuffed as a producer how its sounding.”
Street was also asked about the state of a new Blur album for which he responded, “Ive not been approached about a new record and I doubt I will be, I dont think we should assume that theyll make an album, I got the impression that they dont want the pressure of having to make a new record. Obviously I would love to be asked to produce them again but, I dont know, they havent asked me to do the Under the Westway track William Orbit is involved apparently but I dont know.”
