When we heard soulful blues rockers Alabama Shakes at CMJ last fall, we knew they had powerful potential. The Athens, Alabama quartet recently stopped by NPR’s World Cafe, and what they delivered only heightened our anticipation for their debut, Boys & Girls. Below, check out their cover of the Led Zeppelin cut “How Many More Times?”. It’s a remarkably faithful rendition of the Led Zeppelin closer, and Brittany Howard’s massive voice hits so close to Robert Plant’s it’s stupefying. Have a listen to the nearly 8-minute jaw-dropper, then check out the original for comparison.
Alabama Shake’s debut album, Boys & Girls, is out April 10th on ATO Records.
