Rufus Wainright describes his seventh studio LP, the Mark Ronson-produced Out of the Game, as ”the most pop album I’ve ever made.” Our first taste, however, is a decidedly un-poppy ballad called “Montauk”. Riding some light, fluttery piano work, Wainwright outlines his family life in Montauk, detailing the ups and downs of domestic bliss through his unique lyrical lens (i.e. trying to be a good dad who just so happens to wear kimonos). Stream it below (via KCRW).

Out of the Game hits stores on May 1st via Decca. Collaborators include Wilco’s Nels Cline, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, Sean Lennon, members of the Da-Kings, and Martha Wainwright.
