at the drive in feat Omar Rodríguez López: No plans for new At The Drive In album

Reunited hardcore band At-The Drive In has no plans for a new studio album, according to guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López. When recently asked about the possibility by Kerrang! Magazine (via NME), Rodríguez-López said, “Will there be a new album? No, no, no. At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing – it’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s and we’re doing a couple of shows.”

Speaking of shows, At The Drive-In recently confirmed its third 2012 performance, and its first-ever one in Europe. On July 12th, they’ll perform at the Benicàssim festival in Costa Azahar, Spain. As previously reported, the band will also appear at Coachella in April. Check out their updated tour schedule below.

While there’s no plans for new music with At-The Drive In, Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala will release a new album from The Mars Volta, Noctourniquet, on March 27th via Warner Bros. Listen to the lead single “The Malkin Jewel”.

04/15 – Indio, CA @ Coachella Music Festival
04/22 – Indio, CA @ Coachella Music Festival
07/12 – Costa Azahar, ES @ Benicàssim
