The Walkmen will return with their seventh album, Heaven, on June 5th via Fat Possum/Bella Union. According to a press release (via Pitchfork), the band recorded with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Modest Mouse) at his Seattle-area studio in the woods. They also enlisted Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold to sing on a track called “No One Ever Sleeps”.
Said frontman Hamilton Leithauser of the new album: “The detachement you can feel throughout our younger records is gone. We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement.”
That’s the album cover above, and a two-minute teaser trailer is posted below.
In support of the release, The Walkmen have already confirmed slots at Crossing Brooklyn Ferry, Sasquatch!, and Osheaga. They’re also set to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on the day of their album’s release.
