Pittsburgh psych-pop outfit Black Moth Super Rainbow released their last album, Eating Us, way back in 2009. Since then, the band’s various members have gone on to side projects, including Tobacco and the Seven Fields of Aphelion. Now, though, they’ve reassembled to create new music, with the first such fresh cut being the spacey “Spraypaint”. Utilizing waves of sci-fi-inspired synths and vocodered-to-oblivion vocals, the track offers listeners a trip down a neon-colored intergalactic highway to nowhere. Stream it below (via Pitchfork).
In a Facebook post earlier today, frontman Tobacco preempted the song’s debut by asking followers “do you guys wanna hear a pop song from the new bmsr album?”, indicating “Spraypaint” may well be on the as-yet-detail-less fifth BMSR album. As always, stay tuned for more.
