Chicago trio Future Rock have been causing waves in the electronica dance scene since 2006. Backed by their impressive array of stage lights, keyboardist Mickey Kellerman, bass player Felix Moreno, and drummer Darren Heitz are now festival-circuit regulars, making bodies move from Camp Bisco to Wakarusa. They’ll be returning to Bisco and the Windy City’s own North Coast Music Festival this year, and with their new EP One Day out tomorrow, they’ll have plenty of new material to keep the dance party going.
For this new EP, the band signed with STS9’s label 1320 Records. It’s a comfortable fit for Future Rock, whose own breed of dance rock infused electronica is a pulse-racing extension of the jamtronica movement STS9 was so instrumental in forging. To maintain their rock’s heading into the future, this Chi-town band blends in elements of progressive house, with each member manning his own synthesizers to keep the electronic textures continually building to explosive peaks. The results defy you to stay still, pounding rhythms and digital sorcery combining into a wall of sound that takes hold of your limbs and won’t let go.
