If you’ve ever moaned about the dulcet, neutered sounds of Bon Iver, it’s now time to show Justin Vernon and Co. how “Holocene” really should sound. In addition to a slew of upcoming tour dates, the band has launched a remix competition for its Top-Star-earning sophomore album, Bon Iver Bon Iver. Starting today, fans can download audio stems from all ten songs for free.
According to a press release, each of the album’s ten songs will have its own contest, and the resulting remixes will be up for public voting through Indaba Music. With those results, the band will decide the final winners, and those ten remixes will then be assembled as a complete album and released exclusively on Spotify.
Participants have until August 29th to complete their remixes, and winners will be announced around the third week of September. In addition to a spot on the remix album, winners will receive $1,000.
To coincide with the launch of the contest, the band has released a new remix of “Minnesota, WI” by S. Carey. If you have Spotify, you can listen to it below.
