Former label Kill Rock Stars is celebrating Elliott Smith’s would-be 43rd birthday on August 6th with a collection of unreleased tracks. They’ve started the process with a rare early cut of ”Alameda”, originally off 1997’s Either/Or, which sports an alternate chorus. Stream below (via Pitchfork).
This month, fans can also look forward to a bevy of Smith-related releases and offers. In addition to the rarities, Kill Rock Stars will reissue the songwriter’s 1995 self-titled debut and Either/Or on 180-gram vinyl. What’s more, his entire output with the label will be available as a digital bundle for $49 throughout August. And, without sounding like Matthew Lesko, any mailorder purchase of Smith’s work will receive a 10% off coupon.
