The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour restored for DVD/Blu ray

On October 9th, The Beatles‘ 1967 psychedelic film Magical Mystery Tour will be reissued on DVD and Blu-ray by Apple Films. Directed by the Fab Four themselves, the hour-long acid trip of a film follows the band and their rag-tag crew of oddities on a bus  ride throughout the UK. The forthcoming reissue follows this year’s similar restoration of The Beatles’ animated classic Yellow Submarine.

Bonus features include brand new interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and other cast and crew members, a director’s commentary track by McCartney himself, a 19-minute documentary, deleted scenes, new edits of past performances, and a BBC promotional video. There will also be a box set release that includes both the DVD and Blu-ray editions of the film, a 60-page book, and a double 7″ that contains the film’s original six tracks.

Then, on September 27th, the film will receive its first-ever limited theatrical release across North America. A list of participating cities and theaters are still forthcoming.
