As previously reported, Neon Indian frontman Alan Palomo was commissioned by Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art to create a new short film about the intersect between people and increasingly complex technologies, entitled ”Outer Osmo Ghost Mode”. You can now watch the full film below.
The film’s plot centers around Avatars Elda and Dell Banner, who were created by a married couple to explore the “proto-virtual internet exploration program” called “Osmo”. According to Palomo, the film is a metaphorical exploration of our obsession with social networking and technologys impact on interpersonal relationships. “Essentially, they have become the digital ghosts of the Banners,” he explained.
The music is as experimental as the plot, with once “optimistic, futuristic” tunes having undergone “eras of digital degradation and (coming) off distorted, distant, and otherwise anachronistic.”
