Thanks to a bit of happenstance, Frank Ocean and Depeche Mode have recorded a track together. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, frontman Dave Gahan revealed that while Depeche Mode were working on their new album Delta Machine, Frank Ocean was working on those “10, 11 songs” for his sophomore LP in a nearby studio.

“I was singing, Martin [Gore] on guitar, a few of the other guys,” Gahan said. “Suddenly in the doorway, I sensed this presence, and I realised there was this guy standing there just watching. An assistant came up to me in between songs and said, ‘Do you mind? Frank Ocean is here working in another studio and really wants to meet you guys.’ I wouldn’t have thought he would have even known who we are, but it turns out he’s a big fan.”

After hitting it off, Gore and The Knife producer Christoffer Berg went over to Ocean’s studio, where they “did some electronics and some modular synthesizer stuff he (Ocean) really wanted, which I think is going to be part of his new record.”

If the track makes the final cut of Ocean’s, it may join other rumored contributions from Danger Mouse and Pharrell Williams. For now, let us dream of what may come by watching the videos for Ocean’s “Thinking About You” followed by Depeche’s “Heaven” back-to-back.
