Just when you thought this year’s SXSW couldn’t get any more massive, Depeche Mode have confirmed their attendance. The legendary outfit will make their first-ever appearance at the Austin-based festival on March 13th, where they’ll participate in a discussion with KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley. According to a press release, they’ll “discuss the past, present and future of Depeche Mode,” specifically their new album, Delta Machine, as well as their upcoming world tour.
Hopefully, the band also sticks around for a performance during the week. Though, with Dave Grohl, Justin Timberlake, Green Day, The Stooges, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave, and Vampire Weekend already performing, I’m not sure where they’d even find a space to play. Then again, we’re happy to make room for them at CoSigns.
Prior to South by Southwest, Depeche Mode will perform at New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater on March 11th as part of the Live on Letterman webcast series.
Below, watch the band perform their new single “Heaven” in the studio.
