Christopher Owens releases acoustic remake of Lysandre

on April 17, 2013, 7:00am

Back in in January, ex-Girls frontman Christopher Owens released his debut solo record, Lysandre. While the album mirrored the multi-faceted approach of his former band, who sporadically leapt from shoegaze to surf to classic rock and back, Owens infused a clear sense of singer-songwriter reflections along the lines of Cat Stevens or Jeremy Taylor.

Now, Owens is really playing up that sensitive balladeer vibe by releasing an all-acoustic version of Lysandre. As a pre-download sample, stream the re-worked closing track, “Part of Me (Lysandre’s Epilogue)”, below. With just the hurried plucks of the guitar as support, Owens’ evocative voice and visceral lyrics become the well-deserved centerpiece.

Then, beginning tomorrow at 9:00AM ET, head to Owens’ official website to snag your copy for free.

A Lysandre Acoustic vinyl 10″ will be available shortly; pre-order your copy now at Fat Possum.

Update: Owens has also announced plans for a solo acoustic tour.
